The August issue of Wired has a nice little article on this. It shows
again how the advance in computing power is opening up new things that
previously weren't doable. In this case they are working on putting
together a vast database of brain related material.

Now I wonder if 5 years from now there will be breakthroughs in brain
scanning similar to what happened with the human genome race... if
those guys had simply waited a couple more years they could have done
the whole sequence in two hours using that new nanopore technique.
