Eliezer,
A sort of singularity film you really need to see is the first _Lawnmower Man_, and not the worthless sequel.
It tells the story of a scientist who with a combination of drugs and VR upgrades the intelligence of a mentally retarded man to unheard of levels of power. I realize this sounds like _Flowers for Algernon_ but this film goes well beyond where that one left off.
At the end of the film the government intelligence agency which funded the project comes looking for him with deadly results. They showed up a little too late in the game...
The performances by Pierce Brosnan as the scientist and Jeff Fahey as the retarded(and then transcended) man are simply excellent. This film will get both your heart and mind involved at the possibilities shown.
******SPOILER******
Eventually this formerly retarded man actually uploads into the world net and becomes by his own description the "CyberChrist!" The film then stops there.
best wishes,
John
