My brother has a hot new job working on computer visual input and sensing
technology. They use open source software and manage their own open source
software. They even convinced the U.S. Government to pay for development
that remains open source! Take a look at <http://remotesensing.org> for
more information about Open Source Remote Sensing.

Open source not only provides free code, peer review, and cross-company
collaboration, but good programmers still get paid well for doing it.
