I agree, and don't forget the amazing stuff IBM has done with magnetic storage.
In two years they expect to mass produce disk drives that store 100 billion bits of
data per square inch of disk area, 4 times better than the very best disk drive
you can buy today. Storage capacity has been growing faster than Moore's law
and the amount of information you can send down a fiber is growing even faster
than that.
