It seems to me that we will have meat substitutes with very high nutritional value and the flavor that we have craved form eons as an alternative choice.

Here is a case in point: I eat fake sausage links, hamburgers, hot dogs and bacon. They are not meat but they taste very much like meat. It satisfies a deep nostalgia for these foods but provides the protein for maintaining and developing muscle mass and takes fairly decent.

Would I eat cloned meat? This gets into the ethical issue which was mentioned in a prior post and one which I think can be discussed quite openly as long as it is understood that each person has her or his personal views which are based in part on emotions. I think that cloning meat might not be the best way to go. Perhaps cloning replacement organs may not be the best way to go when we can design and develop better organs. Herein, it’s necessary to multi-track. Why would we want cloned organs if we don't need the organs in our future bodies? Maybe we need some sort of architecture to give us mobility, etc. but not the same layout and design we have now. In this regard, perhaps the food substance that we will eat will be based on energy providing nutrients. But, I'm going off on a tangent and you are looking a bit closer to our backyard than the neighboring galaxy.

In short, it is a very good question, Shaun.
