Funnily enough, a certain senior writer at Wired said to me a couple of
days ago that he would very much like to see Extropy magazine return, and
that he would be interested in working on it purely for the satisfaction.
Producing a print magazine is a tremendous amount of work. I am certainly
not going to do the work that I used to do on it. However, I don't rule out
the possibility of reanimating Extropy. Post-Extro-5, I'm going to be
re-evaluating a number of ExI activities in consultation with the board of
directors and the Council of Advisors. A revived Extropy magazine would
require a sufficient staff, and some decent funding. I, too, miss the
printed magazine. Whether it still has a place will depend on where ExI is
headed into 2002 and beyond. That's something that I've been giving much
though to lately.
For the record, we got up to printing around 4,000 copies of Extropy before
we stop publishing it. Before the Web became pervasive, Extropy magazine
was the main way for extropically-minded people to get in touch.
Onward!
Max
