Just as a matter of curiosity, have you seen me write
"if someone and his duplicate are to be tortured, each
will say DON'T DO IT TO THIS ONE." ?
I was the first to make that point, in an earlier post, as
a pre-emptive strike so that people would realize that this
had occurred to me :-( well, it didn't work. You've
echoed that point back to me several times now.
Then for at least two posts in a row, you reiterate EXACTLY
the same argument using the words "the entity" instead of
"me" and you come to the same conclusion. Please try to
address the deeper meaning of our disagreement (which is
real).
I am not arguing anything in this post. I am simply explaining
what you and I are not agreeing on.
I am submitting that "I" could be taken to mean a program,
a huge set of beliefs, memories, experiences, predispostions,
and behaviors. In this sense, you will agree that you could
be in two places at the same time.
You keep repeating that "I" should be taken to mean an entity
that controls a **single** body. I totally understand. I
simply disagree. Later I will pick one of your posts and
attempt to make progress.
And you know what I mean by progress: "It is not that your
words should triumph over mine, nor mine over yours, but
that between us we should find the truth".
Take care,
yours,
Lee
