Another delightful use of genetic technology to cure debilitating problems
in humans and animals. Perhaps as more and more of these reports appear,
the critics of genetic technologies will mellow out, or be largely ignored
(except when they have some specific, well-reasoned objection to a
particular application).

April 27 — Using gene therapy, scientists have restored vision in dogs with
a version of a rare disease that blinds human infants. The work may lead to
treatments for several genetic forms of blindness.
