YES! The Great Eternal Book {love that name} was published
when Hafstadter was a mere child of 29 yrs. He wrote it when
he was an embryo! Well, perhaps not from Eliezer's point of
view {8^D, but to accomplish such a thing as GEB before turning
30 is an astounding feat.
Actually I must agree with Eliezer's assessment of the later
works however. Hofstadter poured everything into that first book,
which is perfectly fine with me, if that one is the stunning GEB.
