Big food manufacturers are already researching ways to make meat
substitutes out of cheaper ingredients. They have been trying to
duplicate meat from other sources for years. Major brands, such as
Green Giant and Morning Star Farms have developed fake meats that are
good enough to compete in the frozen food market. I think this goal
is right on target, and is already being pursued aggressively and
with heavy funding. Remember that McDonalds developed and sells a
veggie burger in other countries. The idea of pursuing and marketing
non-animal meat products is already in the mainstream in most markets.
