I think intellectual dishonesty is one leg of their movement. They have
other legs: appeal to emotions, fear of human-caused disaster, their own
"right livelihood," moralism ("we're doing the right thing, you're messing
things up"), aesthetic arrogance (nature is prettier than artifice),
fatalism (many people are superstitious about human destiny, concluding
that we ought not interfere with nature), and last, you can be a Hollywood
star and also be Green (they exploit the desire to be liked).
