I have to back Marlow on this one. TANSTAAFL - "product is scarce, price
goes up" - makes a nice fictional rationale for gallantry in "The Moon is
a Harsh Mistress" (Heinlein, of course, was a howling chauvinist), but
remember the tales that "some of the old cobbers used to tell, that would
make your blood run cold", from *before* they built themselves a new
society with new mating rules? Like that. For at least a decade.
