Har. Hey, you do have a point, tho. 4E14 cubic meters of
water, were it to freeze, would liberate a helllll of a lotta
heat. Lets see, heat of fusion of water, 80 cal/gram if
I recall my high school chemistry. So the whole project
liberates 3E16 cal, which is in itself enough to raise the
temperature of the ocean... about 0.016 C, not counting
the energy used to lift it all. Of course some of it would
evaporate, absorbing some of the heat.

I think I figured before: 1000 megawatt powerplants running
7-24-52 for 127 years. That in itself would produce quite
a bit of waste heat. Hey, that might be enough all by
itself to warm this place to a livable temperature.

It might be obvious that this whole thread was started
by a Californian on a chilly winter day, as he longs
for that soon coming glorious summer. spike
