I'd nominate the 5th of November as Guy Fawkes Day.

"Remember, remember, the fifth of November,
 the Gunpowder Treason and Plot.
I know of no reason why the Gunpowder Treason
 should ever be forgot."

Hm, looking this up online, I find that Guy Fawkes Day is already a
holiday in some places. I'm pleasantly surprised; you wouldn't think the
population at large would be that fond of anarchism.

I also nominate July 4th as Aliens Blow Up the White House Day. No, wait,
that's already a holiday too, isn't it? With all those fireworks? And
Newton's Birthday has a massive celebration already... maybe we don't need
a transhumanist calendar after all.
