I think most people, even those from smaller states, support giving up the
electoral college. People from smaller states have more voting power anyway
if the electoral college is eliminated (as well as those from larger
states). If you live in Alaska or Rhode Island, you can vote any way you
want and it will have zero influence on the election. Gore still gets X
electoral votes and Bush still gets Y. But without the electoral college,
your vote will count for the final outcome, because it doesn't matter what
state you live in.
