True, but the vengeful God of the Old Testament was transcendent,
albeit sometimes reaching into affairs of this world with a meddling
hand. The City of God was conveniently located elsewhere.

This particular Pantheon (or, rather Pandaemonium) will be in the here
and now. Divine indifference is not good enough for us to make it. We
would require active protection to survive.
