This is why I wondered about the implications of this
"new" research. Neuropsychologists have been sending impulses directly to
neurons and receiving impulses from them for many decades. What is new
about the Kurzweil report? Is there some refinement of the degree of
control which a machine (computer) can exercise over the neurons or in
reverse some refinement in the machine/computer being able to receive
information from neurons?
