I lived in Chicago for a short time and found it to be a wonderful place
except that the weather got pretty cold in the winter for someone like me
(from south central Texas). But the positive side of that was ice
skating. The people were exceptionally nice. It was easy to make
friends there, and you could always count on getting a friendly smile
from taxi drivers and bus drivers and cops and people you passed on the
sidewalks. And the public transportation was good, so you didn't have to
bother with a car. I probably would've stayed there if the winters
hadn't been so cold.
