Speaking as someone with fingers in both the
human-intelligence-enhancement and Artificial Intelligence pies, I think
it makes tremendous sense to pursue AI at the expense of IE, and my
efforts have been focused on the former for some time. Human IE - of
the kind I used to be interested in - means that you have to wait for
the kids to grow up before anything interesting happens, and that would
just take too long.
