This wasn't the first time a supersonic passenger airplane crashed in Paris.
The USSR built 15 TU 144's, about as many as there were Concords, and
they were slightly larger and slightly faster than Concord. A TU 144 very
publicly crashed with lots of cameras rolling in 1973 during the Paris air show,
about 2 years later another one crashed in Russia. They actually went into
service for a few years, but only inside the USSR, nobody else wanted one.
They were scraped about 1985.
