I know that it costs something, but I'm not sure who picked up the
check. All the financial payments were handled by Amazon.com, and I know
they must get the best rates on card processing fees of about anyone,
based on volume. They might have picked up the tab though, figuring
bringing that many people to amazon would sell more books, etc...
