Monsanto made a statement that they would not sell plant seeds with the terminator
gene. That doesn't mean they can't change their mind, and it doesn't mean they
won't develop it, it just means they won't try to hook farmers on mule seeds this
year.

Contemporarily, commercial genetic modification of plants generally is not so much
gene-splicing as it is hybridization and application of radiation to many, many
samples: the "brute force" approach.

People have farmed plants since time out of mind, and probably no plant is the
same as it was then, just as no people are the exact replicas of those from then.
