Lawnmower is A-OK.
Techno-guru is sooo 1990's. What about something like scientific master?
Not nearly so catchy as boffin, though. The term "egghead" echoes across
the decades, but it was a derogatory slang word. Why not use "boffin" and
have a footnote for us Yanks?
