Babies of every species are more sensitive to cold than adults, but if the
young have a gene that makes them especially sensitive then the adult
alpha male has that gene too and if the climate gets colder then he's less well
adapted than other gorillas to the environment. Soon will no longer be the alpha
male anymore.
