know, when I was in high school, I applied to work for Greenpeace at
one point. I heard they were good-guys, into saving the environment,
rah rah rah (it wasn't quite as trendy back then). So I'm watching
their propoganda video, and they're proudly talking about how they've
occupied this research lab where they were working on *gasp* TRANSGENIC
MICE!!!
"Um, excuse me? I was actually kind of planning on working with
transgenic mice myself when I grow up thank you very much. I thought
you were about clean air and water. What do mice have to do with it?"
Needless to say I didn't take the job. That was the beginning of my
gradual alienation from self-described environmentalist groups. I'm
still into clean air and water, but memetic pollution troubles me even
more.
