That would work fine but only against the first warhead, after that you're in trouble
because you've blinded yourself. In addition to the very serious EMP problem you've
created a huge cloud of opaque plasma that lets anything sneak through unobserved.
The prospect of exploding "friendly" H bombs over your own territory is not terribly
inviting either.

The fundamental reason all these defensive schemes fail is that 55 years ago we
discovered a irresistible force, but unfortunately we never found an immovable object.
