So cymm help me out here.. how does one reverse "macrophage activity gets
curtailed" or augment macrophage activity in relation to AGE ?

Robert,

The young immune system actually does do this. As macrophage activity gets
curtailed, and AGE production rises with age related impairment of glucose
tolerance... the cleanup gets swamped!!!

The immune system can be "trained"one way or the other...good postgrad
textbooks on immunology detail how.

Hope this helps!

cymm
