A decade or so back, when I was doing my PhD at a modish university, the
office doors of smarmy, upwardly-clawing staff members tended to be covered
with large posters declaring SUBVERT THE DOMINANT PARADIGM! The staff were
less enthusiastic, I found, when I tried to subvert theirs by reference to,
like, you know, *established fact*...
But they were good sports about it, and far from drumming me out of the
academy they sent me off with my piece of paper and some nice references.
It was just a clash of relative opinions, after all. :)
