The use of the term "self-hating Jew". That was totally extraneous.
You could have just said: "Hey, just because your family's half-Jewish
doesn't mean that you can't be anti-Semitic," and left it at that.
Instead you managed to use a term that, semantically, binds together a
particular kind of self-hatred with a particular social group; and,
moreover, attributed the remark you disagreed with to the disagreer's
membership in that group, rather than the rational thought of the
disagreer. Anyone who disagrees with you is an anti-Semite; anyone
Jewish who disagrees with you is a "self-hating Jew". That's every bit
as racially charged as calling a black Extropian who happens to despise
political correctness an "Uncle Tom".
