I shouldn't try to write while I'm full of microorganisms. Let's try again.
When I said:

>Might we find that the voids close up as one gets
>farther back in time, more than you'd expected due to cosmic expansion?

I meant `find that the voids were smaller in the past, ever smaller the
farther back you look, and this is not just an artefact of the universe
being then more compact than it is now'.

>(Here, of course, I'm imagining that the `bubbles' between the galactic
>`filaments' are the residue of just such unfinished expansions.

I stupidly used `expansions' in two adjacent sentences while trying to
convey two entirely unrelated ideas. In this second sense, I meant `the
bubble-voids are what is left over as Kardeshev 3 civilisations gobble up
or re-process everything they can reach, a process that remains unfinished'.
