Bring-your-dot-com-to-nasdaq has been the resent model, but I think the
trend now with startups is to do initial R&D and then fish for some big guy
to buy the consept and bring it to market. You can focus on producing the
ideas, which is the fun part (imo) and relatively cheap. Works well for IT,
biotech and other areas where R&D is vital, because the big guys are happy
to cut costs by outsourcing this (its really a kind of insourcing).
