Those of you who ride motorcycles know that many high-techy
intersections have lights that are triggered by the magnetic field
distortion caused by a car. The wimpiest "Fear This" Honda civic
will easily trigger the light, but most motorcycles will not. Often in
order to get across some intersections, I must drop the kickstand,
run over, hit the cross-the-street button, run back over, go when
the light changes, at which time I have violated a number of
laws. If a car comes up behind me, I can pull forward enough
(into the crosswalk) so that the car will pull forward enough
to trigger the light, at which time I have broken laws. Commonly
I wait until no one is coming, then tear across the intersection
on one wheel, which may be in violation of one or more traffic
codes. I have yet to be sited for any of these antisocial behaviors.
