Pain is not noble, the ability to endure it with dignity is. It can deepen
one's experience or not. It all depends on what you do with it, just like
anything in life.

It is not *unkind* that pain brings us knowledge of the value life and the
ability to have compassion!! However, it is extremely unfortunate that it is
one of the only ways our stubborn, self absorbed species obtain these
qualities.

People are rarely willing to grow through joy, though it is possible.
