Last year Free Inquiry magazine published an article
<http://www.SecularHumanism.org/library/fi/bishop_19_3.html>
concerning polling data for several similar questions
from the early 1990s (these things don't change
quickly, one of the points of the article). The
interesting thing about the questions mentioned in
the article is that they were asked in and the
results have been split out by several countries.
Unfortunately, the US respondents tend to be the
most faithful, their former East German counterparts
the most faithless. Even worse, the results are
flipped when it comes to "Ranking of 21 Nations on
Knowledge Question about Human Evolution, 1993
International Social Survey".
Of course take all this with a large does of
skepticism. At the very least language issues
makes comparison of polling data across countries
very difficult.
