One of the questions asked at the symposium was "What does technology want
to
do?" in the context of rates of change that look like double exp functions
when you plot them. I think the 'technology' here is the whole technology
memeplex which is using humanity for its advancement, and that BJ wants us
to
stop. On of the classic results of control theory is that when you are
inside
a system changing at this kind of rate rate, once you see what is going to
happen, it is waaaay to late to do anything about it.

This concept was brought to mind as I drove to work today and listened to
the
story about the British cloning decision, and a couple of other technology
reports. It gave me the feeling I get when looking down that first drop on
the roller coaster. Hang on.
