No doubt it takes a significant measure of intelligence to translate a
subjective (emotional or other) experience into an artistic medium which
accurately relates that experience to another person. But how much
"intelligence" is needed to merely experience emotion. I don't think very
much. Sure, at the level of worms, there is probably not enough
intelligence to give rise to the emotional experience. But sticking to
human levels, how intelligent does a human have to be to experience emotion?
  Think about idiots. Do they have emotions or no?
