Residents of a village in southern England
have declared themselves an independent
state free from taxation and government
oppression.
On January 1 the People's Republic of
Ashurst Wood Nation State erected border
control posts, stopping all those trying to
enter the village in East Sussex without a
visa.
A revolutionary committee has now taken
control and has officially informed The
Queen and Prime Minister Tony Blair of its
intention to rule unencumbered by the law
of England.
Mr Blair is yet to respond to the
declaration.
What's the standard government response to these type of events? Is the
army sent in or do they just use the police?
