Quick Start Guide for Linux:

If you're not already in a graphical environment,

  startx
.

Read http://www.mozilla.org/binaries.html . At the moment, http://www.mozilla.org/ has links to some of the latest builds, while http://www.mozilla.org/binaries.html has links to even more.

Save the file

  mozilla-i686-pc-linux-gnu.tar.gz
to some convenient location. [FIXME: Is there a "right" location ???]

At the commant prompt, type

  tar -xzvf mozilla-i686-pc-linux-gnu.tar
to create a folder called "package" and put the Good Stuff (TM) in it.

(Alternatively, the above step can be broken into 2 steps:

  gunzip mozilla-i686-pc-linux-gnu.tar.gz
to uncompress the file, then
  tar -xvf mozilla-i686-pc-linux-gnu.tar
)

Then

  cd package
  ./mozilla -installer
(this imports your bookmarks from version 4.x) fill out the annoying form, and away you go !

Then you can start it at any time by running

  ./mozilla
(most desktop environments have a way of associating this with a button so you can start mozilla at the click of a button. For example, ... [FIXME].).

[FIXME: Does the installation instruction at http://www.mozilla.org/projects/seamonkey/release-notes/m12.html and http://www.mozilla.org/projects/seamonkey/release-notes/m13.html and http://www.mozilla.org/projects/seamonkey/release-notes/m14.html make this file obsolete ? ]
