TCID means "Tissue Culture Infectious Dose" and is usually measured at the
50% point, ie the dilution of viral sample that produces CPE in 50% of the
replicates.  Thus you will also see it expressed as TCID50.

There is some statistical number crunching involved to arrive at the 50% end
point.  This was described in a paper written by Reed & Muench in the 1930s.
