More information is needed regarding your friend.  Is he or she
immunocompromised, e.g. organ transplant recipient?  Which member of
the herpesvirus family is involved, i.e. herpes simplex,
cytomegalovirus, etc.?  Also, is your friend receiving treatment with
an antiviral drug effective against all herpesviruses such as Cytovene
(ganciclovir) or Foscavir (foscarnet)?
