It resides in progenitor red blood cells, and can cause aplastic
conditions in the right groups (persons with haematological
abonormalities eg. sickle cell anaemia, hereditary spherocytosis;
sometimes causing problems in the foetus of an infected mother).
Immunity is usually permanent after a first infection.
