Come to Southern California this spring for MBC '96, the second annual Molecular Biology Conference and exhibition. FOCUS: Emerging and Re-Emerging Infectious Diseases,
Diagnostic Kits and Drug Discovery.
Emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases are threatening the world's population because of the over-use of antibiotics, public health officials who have become complacent about the danger of infections, and pharmaceutical companies that have slackene
d in their efforts to develop effective new antibiotics. A global alert has been sounded by 36 national and international medical journals ( Ronald Kotulak, Chicago Tribune, January 17, 1996).
MBC '96 invites speakers to present their work in clinical and basic research related to these issues, especially new antibiotic development and drug resistance.
"Our prospects are, at minimum, rising exposures to familiar agents globally spread, and increasing treatment failures with antibiotics," stated Nobel Laureate Joshua Lederberg of Rockefeller University in the Journal of the Americal Medical Association.
