Thanks for all the info.  I did, of course, consult with my physicians 
(both my OB and my "infectious disease" Dr.).  With all due respect to 
other contributors to this thread, my docs pretty much reiterated what 
Len has said about not worrying about transmission to the fetus.  I 
was told that herpes doesn't course thru one's body, but sits pretty 
much in one spot.  Which is why outbreaks occur in the same place 
every time (in my case, above my right eye).  I've been controlling the 
infection with topical acyclovir, and it's abating.
