heavy metal viral inhibition?

It's possible that the heavy metal germicides inhibit viruses in vitro.
There's five: silver, mercury and I forget the other three. They
denature proteins and apparently also precipitate bacteria. So it seems
to me like they could precipitate viruses as well. People do make claims
for the antiviral properties of colloidal silver, but I have yet to see
any good research proving this.
