We isolate enteroviruses by cell culture the old-fashioned way using monkey kidney cells (a tube of rhesus and a tube of cynomologous mk) and MRC-5 (human diploid lung fibroblasts). Virus is detected by cytopathic effects and identi- fied by serotyping at the State laboratory. Hope this helps. Ken
