It's not.
Non-human retroviruses: there are many - hundreds. Off the top of my head:
FeLV, FIV
SI bovine immunodeficiency virus
Equine infectious anemia
Caprine arthritis-encephalitis virus
Maedi-visna virus
A bunch of avian oncoviruses - Rous sarcoma virus, etc
murine mammary tumour virus
and many, many, more. Look in any virology text.
