PCR kits to detect animal viruses & bacteria

Dear netters,

I have been asked by a former professor of my department to gather 
information regarding the use of PCR for the purpose of detecting 
animal viruses (eg FIV & FLV to start), bacteria, parasites and 
fungi.  The company he works for would like information on the 
equipement required & costs, PCR probe kits specific for the 
specific infectious agents and any experience others have had.

Any input would be appreciated, including other people or 
companies to contact.
