Ebola virus and emerging diseases: FACT OR FICTION?

Is it important to do research on Ebola virus or NOT?

Would someone please clue me in?  I thought that it was time to put 
together the best minds and see if we could solve this one. 

There is a meeting scheduled Sept 17-20, 1995 and MBC '96 will again 
address the issue of emerging viruses. Who knows maybe by then there will 
be another oubreak to cover.
