Viruses as prey?

I doubt if anybody has researched the possibility, but I bet various
protista harvest marine viruses for their proteins and nucleic acids. Sea
water has a heck of a lot of virus in it. Hard to believe all that good
stuff isn't recycled by something. (For the most part the viruses would
not be dangerous to the injesting organism since they wouldn't match up
chemically.)
