Meningiacoccymia ???

Menignococcemia.  Disseminated infection with the bacterium (not virus)
neisseria meningitides.  Nasty bacterium that can be looked up in any
microbiology text.  Your friend had a local infection with the bug at
first. It was mistaken for a viral illness and was sent home.  
Unfortunately, the infection spread to involve her blood stream. The
bacterium has a doubling time of ...probably under an hour.  Delay
of appropriate antibiotics by hours can be fatal.
